Welcome to the soon to be BIMARU state of Mahar rashtra!
What with the half (don't know which one is the better and which one is the worse half) of so called messiah of the Maharashtrian Asmita is a goddamn pauper who has to be forced to pay toll fees and then doesn't think twice about crying foul over it and getting the MNS Monkeys into damaging men and machinery at the toll naka.
Another one is that Jet Airways to have announcements in Marathi - and soon it will be which Marathi - Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur or Kolhapuri? Have they really upgraded themselves to traveling by flight so what is going to happen to the Asiad and SHT (they don't pronounce it as ST remember!)
And then the Consumer Forum joins the Marathi Band wagon! when day in and day out the so called Marathi Programmes on the hailed Marathi Channels have not just the participants but even their MahaGurus and Judges (yes they use the word 'Judges' in their Marathi Programme) have no qualms about going on and on about Ata Hasa Marathit and so on and so forth, enjoying when the participants in a Comedy programme put down Biharis only to appreciate the performances with absolute Marathi praise words like 'Kya Baat Hain', 'Aprateem Bearing', 'Timing', 'Per Formance' (that's how they pronounce it!)
So now my dear Bombayite and fellow Maharashtrain catch you at the Zhunka Bhakar Kendra or Shiv Vada Pau Stall some time!

Do you call them roads?
They are a 5 year opportunity for the Municipal Corporator to line his/her pocket and the Road Contractor to Make Hay while the Pedestrian and Commuter cries.
An open challenge to you to please show us a clear stretch of 100 meters of normal, plain road anywhere in our City.
The road is actually become a road to hell. Potholes, uneven roads, missing paver blocks, sunken drains, missing drain covers these are just a few things which are part and parcel of practically every road in this city.
I commute 5 days a week (on a two wheeler) from my residence in Goregaon West to my workplace at Andheri East - Safed Pool a distance of 11 kms. All along it is a everyday reminder of the caption ' Nazar haati Durghatna ghati! Travelling on a two wheeler (Kinetic Honda) I can never know when I will loose balance due to the road being uneven or me riding into a pothole.
But then who cares! after all just like any eyeball attracting and TRP Rating influencing factor, this issue is also exploited for a limited time and then regaled to the archives only to be dug up when there is no supposedly scintillating, hot news of a celeb suicide, wardrobe malfunction or cricket match news happening.
I think therefore I speak.

Peepli Live and the Lives & Times of India
Chota Parivaar Sukhi Paravaar, kyun sahi hain na? India is hardly a chota parivaar!
70% of India is involved in Agriculture - Sacchi! well you dont beleive me then go count for yourself.
Of this 50% is below Poverty Line - What you saying maan? (you express as you sip your Cafe Latte or is it Mocha at a CCD) nah could be over a bottle of Tourborg if not then over your life saving cuppa. Am I any better nah!
Just come back from watching Peepli Live! what is the movie about? is it about life or is it about the slow, disgusting, nameless deaths we see around us in our very own backyard our so called Mera Mahaan Bharat!
There I was watching the 10.30am show at Cinemax Goregaon West. There were not many takers for the show at that time. But in the little audience which that screening attracted, was a bunch of IDIOTS no not the ones and kinds you saw in 3 IDIOTS they were the so called Gen Next. Everytime Nattah aur the villagers spoke aur even moved they were giggling and I had this urge to go and smash their faces in, literally. Peculiarly everytime there was English being spoken by the so called TV Journalist in the movie, they were all attention. Slaves or Dumbos?
Even Natha and his family seemed to be more intelligent then this Best of 5 bummers to me.
As for the Movie - it is a good movie but not a good entertainer. How and Why will I be entertained knowing that Natha is not the solitary case but is just one of the innumerable lot out there who have not just lost land, money, employment, family but even their identity.
All because they were POOR!
At the most we are going to see some movement on Twitter, Facebook or Blogs like this?
Why can't something like a Meter Jam or a Pink Chaddi like thing be done for real big time issues like the case of the despairing and dying farmers or for that matter the perpetually hurt and hurting Kashmiris? But then thats for the Government to take care of isnt it?
Peepli and the People of that kind of India sure need to be Live and they need to LIVE like human beings! and on the eve of Independence Day today I would say live like Free Indians of Free India!

The Chai Chaat & Chat 1 August 2010 - Royal Ditch
Yeah! yeah! I should have known better. SO much for tech savvy people and their virtual presence. Come to think of it the smarter than thou must have thought it to be a Virtual Event. So its not really their fault. Neverthelesss as the name of my blog goes, Have voice, will say! so here goes about the what, where, when and why I am feeling the way I am feeling! ;-)
The Invite which was emailed to 70+ people from Friday 30th July 2010 onwards. Of which some were already excused as they are not in Bombay, Maharashtra, India.

Thats yours truly taking the regrets and excuses calls. Many did not even bother to respond. So much for communication. No problemo! Next when you are not invited by me, you know who to blame.
The Saving graces. My Mum, Yours Truly, Meena my Parlour woman and Pankaj (husband of Deepali who clicked this photo ;-)
The dismal turnout had Suhas Patil the guy who was all set with his Snack Stall wares to feed a small army wonder and said it aloud too ' When people who have been invited to eat and drink did not turn up, what would have happened if I had invited them to work.' well! need any body to guess that? By the way thats Suhas Patil serving and Mahesh Salvi and Pankaj Bhandare enjoying the paani puri.
Even Manoj - assistant of Suhas kept on looking out forlonely towards the door hoping for guests to turn-up as he was all set and ready with his beautifuly set and kept ready to serve Sev-Puris.
Thats Mahesh Salvi my ex-colleague who made it all the way from Marine Lines. He gave me a good phrase. Here's to all you Ditchers
Aaaye to Welcome nahin to Gardi Kam!
