Aaz mee naaral fodlaa!

It was the inauguration of the 3rd Phase of the Oshiwara Christian Cemetery. It had been announced in church and uncle Richard D'sa who is a part of the Oshiwara Christian Cemetery Managing Committee had also invited me personally.

So here I was on a Sunday Morning at 10.30am on the dot for the scheduled Inauguration of the 3rd Phase of the Oshiwara Christian Cemetery.

The Prayer Hall near the Main Gate of the Cemetery had a gathering of people which included the local whose who of the Shiv Sena and their group of supporters.

After much waiting when the Local MLA Mr. Subhash Desai arrived we all proceeded towards the 3rd Phase. Just before this a few minutes ahead of the actual proceeding for the inauguration Uncle D'sa said he had some work for me, to which I willingly said yes, only to be told that he wanted me to break one of the inaugural coconuts. In fact I said when it is the Christian Cemetery phase being inaugurated how come the Hindu Ritual of breaking a coconut, he said it was just going with the local custom.

Once the Coconut breaking started yet again he shouted out my name and very emphatically said I must break one coconut as they wanted a Female representative to do so, which I did. One go and 'Khut' the Coconut broke into two.

My very first experience of a 'Naral Foda' karyakram and that too at an inaugural. Some coincidence that Phase 1 of the cemetery has the remains (bones) of my Papa in a niche in the wall! So was this some providence or purpose for which I was invited there ?

Well! with the breaking of that coconut I not just announced the Inauguration of the 3rd Phase but also my campaign for my candidature for the forthcoming BMC Elections of 2012 as I will be contesting from Ward. 51.

Aagaaz Kabrastan sey hua hain dekein anjaam kahaan pey hoga aur kaisey!
